Character Analysis
Regina Beaufort is Julius Beaufort's first wife, present at the height of his success in New York Society. When Julius is at his most successful, Regina proudly dominates every social occasion and shows off her wealth with expensive clothing and jewels. Whenever she suspects Julian of cheating on her, he buys her another expensive piece of jewelry and her troubles seem to vanish. Think of Regina Beaufort as your typical 1950s sad housewife, only (initially) hecka rich.
When Julius' finances crumble, Regina wants to bolt into the protection of her family connection to the Mingotts. But Mrs. Mingott is unwilling to endorse Regina because Julius has committed the ultimate sin against the gentleman's code, financial fraud.
