Description:

Breaking mirrors is never a great idea.
- 00:14
Unless you happen to be a professional mirror breaker…but just so you know, there's very [Man with a sledgehammer breaks a mirror]
- 00:18
little demand for that job. [Guy looks shocked that he is the only person at the mirror breakers convention]
- 00:19
Anyway, in case you needed any proof of the problems that come smashing mirrors, look [Dino pointing at a blackboard]

no further than Hans Christian Andersen's story "The Snow Queen."
- 00:26
It all starts with a giant mirror that distorts everything it reflects, making anything good
- 00:30
and beautiful seem ugly. [Mirror insults a guy stood in front of it]
- 00:32
So…y'know, not the greatest bathroom mirror. [Girl looks in the mirror and there is a monster]
- 00:35
This mirror ends up shattering, sending a crazy amount of tiny pieces all over the place. [The mirror falls off the wall and smashes]
- 00:40
Unfortunately for a little boy named Kay, he ends up getting one shard in his eye and [Piece of mirror hits Kay in the eye]
- 00:44
one in his heart.
- 00:45
And unfortunately for his friend Gerda, these little shards of the evil mirror turn him [Kay looks insults Gerdo with the two pieces of mirror stuck in him]
- 00:48
into a real jerk.
- 00:50
Perhaps even more unfortunately, Kay ends up getting kidnapped by the Snow Queen.
- 00:54
Man, that Hans Christian Andersen really liked to give his characters a hard time. [Kay is dragged away by the Snow Queen]
- 00:57
Despite the fact that Kay was being a big ol' meanie, Gerda tries to find him.
- 01:01
She gets a tip from a crow that Kay is the new prince in the princess's palace… [Gerda talking to a crow]
- 01:05
…but when she gets there, it turns out the new prince just kinda looks like Kay. [Gerda looks upset]
- 01:09
Shocking!
- 01:10
Bad information from an animal that literally has a bird brain.
- 01:13
The princess gives Gerda warm clothes and a carriage for her journey, but just when [The princess gives Gerda a winter jacket]
- 01:17
things are looking up…
- 01:18
…Gerda gets captured by robbers, who bring her to their castle.
- 01:20
Well…at least she's getting to see plenty of good architecture on her trip. [Gerda admiring the castle]
- 01:24
Another stroke of luck comes in the form of a little robber girl.
- 01:26
She and Gerda become buds…
- 01:28
…and the robber girl's doves pass along some info about Kay… [The robber girl with a dove on her head]
- 01:31
We guess these birdbrains studied a little harder than the crows.
- 01:34
The doves saw the Snow Queen carrying him off towards Lapland. [The Snow Queen carrying Kay away]
- 01:38
It turns out this castle has no shortage of chatty animals: a reindeer captured by the
- 01:42
robbers is from Lapland, so he shows them how to get there. [Reindeer giving directions]
- 01:45
And with that, the robber girl frees Gerda and the reindeer, proving she's a great friend…
- 01:49
…but maybe not a great robber.
- 01:50
C'mon, who wouldn't claim the talking reindeer as their new best friend?
- 01:54
When Gerda finally finds Kay in the Snow Queen's palace, he's almost frozen. [Kay trapped in ice]
- 01:57
C'mon, did you think that the Snow Queen would be cranking up the heat in her pad? [The Snow Queen in front of lava]
- 02:01
Gerda kisses Kay and cries, and her tears clear the splinter from Kay's heart… [Gerda crying]
- 02:05
…which makes him cry, clearing the splinter out of his eye. [The splinter drops out his heart and then his eye]
- 02:08
Man, all of this could've been solved with just a bottle of Visine… [Boy holding a bottle of eye drops]
- 02:11
Anyway, the reindeer takes them home, thus ending one of the longest stories ever caused [Gerda and Kay sat on the reindeer]
- 02:14
by a broken mirror.
- 02:15
Seriously, most broken mirrors just require a few minutes with a broom and a dustpan… [Man sweeping up a broken mirror]
- 02:19
…We guess that's not great material for a fairy tale.
