Conduct short research projects that use several sources to build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic.
Although this standard is quite similar to the comparable standard for fourth graders, the key difference here is that students are now tasked with using direct sources to bolster their research papers. Given that your students will be writing plenty of research papers from here on out, this one is worth spending time on.
