Description:
The publication of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm's Children's and Household Tales two hundred years ago sparked enormous interest in traditional stories told among "the common people." Inspired by the Grimms' methods, researchers began venturing outside the library and into villages to collect colorful tales of magical beasts, wicked stepmothers, enchanted objects, and unrelenting heroes. One of the most exciting discoveries to come from these studies was the repetition of the same plots among different societies and ethnic groups.
The study of Children's and Household Tales resulted in the discovery that
(A)field research is highly effective
(B)different societies tell stories with similar plots
(C)reading helps educate children located in remote areas
(D)heroes look the same regardless of ethnicity

told among the common people Inspired by the grimm's methods
- 00:26
researchers began venturing outside of the library and into villages
- 00:29
to collect colorful tales of magical beast wicked stepmothers enchanted
- 00:33
objects and unrelenting heroes One of the most exciting discovery
- 00:37
to come from these studies was the repetition of the
- 00:39
same plots among different societies and ethnic groups Interesting Okay
- 00:43
so the study resulted in discovery that what kind of
- 00:46
give it to us At the end there was most
- 00:48
exciting discovery cos of repetition same plots among different societies
- 00:52
and ethnic groups Okay well that's kind of surprising rich
- 00:54
and poor all like the good guy to win the
- 00:57
bad guy to be avenged on thie The winner gets
- 01:01
the pretty whatever Okay Well let's See cornered the passage
- 01:04
repetition appeared in the plot elements of stories from societies
- 01:07
that were never in contact with each other right in
- 01:09
those days rich and poor had big walls between him
- 01:12
Like you know on game of thrones This is particularly
- 01:14
cool because it implies that many aspects of the human
- 01:17
experience are universal regardless of one's location and oh by
- 01:22
the way there's a little online education company we know
- 01:25
of that rhymes with up that appeals to both rich
- 01:29
and poor as well Thank you very much So the
- 01:31
answer here is be different Societies tell stories with similar
- 01:34
plots All right let's go to the loser ball here
- 01:37
on the pastor's implies yeah the field research is effective
- 01:40
After all the researchers were going to villages revenue sitting
- 01:43
in musty libraries but our questions about what the researchers
- 01:46
discovered so get rid of a passage focuses on the
- 01:49
perspective of the researchers Not kids in remote areas were
- 01:52
to see rather than saying that all heroes look the
- 01:54
same well the research suggested that different ethnic groups had
- 01:57
their own version of similar heroes right so it's a
- 02:00
different piece there okay answers be and you know maybe 00:02:04.348 --> [endTime] grim force be with you or whatever they had
