Description:

Dogs have the ability to "read" human emotions. For example, dogs have been shown to discriminate between humans who approach in a friendly manner as opposed to a threatening one. They also respond more positively to rewards such as petting and positive verbalizations. Canines can also distinguish between a smiling face, a neutral one, and faces with expressions between happiness and disgust. Amazingly, they can use this information to find food. Lastly, dogs have been known to recognize sad reactions in people and are more likely to approach a crying person compared with someone who is speaking or singing.

The main idea of this passage maintains that dogs

(A)prefer to approach humans with a neutral face
(B)receive the most food from humans who are disgusted
(C)feel sympathy for humans
(D)are aware of human emotions

Okay see reading shmoop er's got kind of a different

00:06

format here they give you a paragraph and you just

00:08

have to answer this one thing so we're not multitasking

00:12

again so let's just get to it first you always

00:14

read the answers and then figure out where you're going

00:17

in the paragraph So it's it the main idea of

00:20

the passage and maintain that dog's preferred approach humans with

00:23

a neutral face or received the most food from humans

00:26

who are disgusted that feel sympathy for humans that can

00:29

be true or are aware of human emotions Interesting Well

00:32

let's skin this thing dogs have the ability to read

00:34

human emotions For example dogs have in china's growing human

00:37

approach in a friendly manner father threatening one their owners

00:39

bottom or rather about verbalization canines house during a smiling

00:43

face a neutral one face looks fresh didn't let me

00:44

have your hand Amazingly they can use the information to

00:47

find food Lastly documentary every sad reaction and those very

00:50

pro the crying person being over singing interesting well dogs

00:54

maybe man's best friend but we never knew they could

00:57

recognise emotions that works for theo The passage states that

01:03

dogs can tell how we're feeling based on our facial

01:06

expressions and that they're more likely to approach a sad

01:08

person than a happy one apparently keen on study human

01:11

emotions as a way of securing their next piece of

01:14

bacon that sounds reasonable to us so got to be

01:17

d they're they're aware of human emotions right loser bowl

01:21

group here Well then we're told that dogs can distinguish

01:24

between happy neutral and disgusted faces The past doesn't reveal

01:27

which face our furry friends prefer so get rid of

01:30

a there They rely on this facial recognition to find

01:32

food and humans with disgusted faces probably won't give him

01:36

lots of treats while sometimes seems like final offers as

01:39

pity cuddles when we're feeling blue the passage never actually

01:42

claims that dogs can sympathize with people so like where

01:46

did that come from They associate certain expressions with their

01:49

likely outcomes but that doesn't mean dogs can process and

01:52

experience emotions as we do so that's it it's the 00:01:54.67 --> [endTime] they're aware of human emotions in yet
