It's impressive that these expressions are able to stay so rational even when they're having operations performed on them.

Here's your Shmoop dujour, brought to you by audio equipment for dogs.

They're generally most interested in woofers.

What is this question really asking?
- 00:36
We're told that the output impedance of the amplifier should be 1/8 or less of the speakers.
- 00:42
The speakers have an impedance of 6 ohms. What's 1/8 of 6?
Full Transcript
- 00:47
We can get that without knowing what impedance is or what ohms are.
- 00:59
A lot of times these questions will throw curveballs at you with these fancy terms you don't need to know. Just do the math.
- 01:06
Because want to know the maximum output, this has got to be the upper limit.
- 01:11
Since we want this answer in the form of an actual number of ohms (i.e. a decimal) rather than a fraction,
- 01:16
we just take six divided by eight or take a simplified version of 3/4.
- 01:29
Ohm sweet ohm.
