Lavenia invited some people over to watch sports.
- 00:08
She wasn’t anticipating a turn-out of 400 people though. MAN, she has a lot of friends.
- 00:13
She took a poll that asked all 400 people what their favorite sport to watch on tv was.
- 00:18
The results are displayed in the graph below.

One hundred twenty of those who were asked preferred… what sport?
- 00:28
And here are the potential answers…
- 00:35
Can we read a pretty colored pie chart? You bet.
- 00:38
The question asks for a percentage – it’s asking ‘what is 120 divided by the total of 400’?
- 00:45
A shame it doesn’t just come out and SAY that. Guess it has transparency issues.
- 00:51
Anyway, when we do the math we get 12 over 40 or 6 over 20 or 3 over 10… which is 0.3.
- 00:57
It's easy to convert this into a percentage.
- 01:00
All we have to do is multiply it by 10 and we see that it’s 30%.
- 01:05
So… which two sports combined give us a total of 30%?
- 01:09
Well, hockey and baseball are both 15%, so the answer is D.
