A Fugitive Rests on the Farm
- A Swede named Emmanuelson spends one night on the farm. He works in a hotel in Nairobi and is worried that he will be put in jail for some reason.
- He asks the Baroness for a loan so he can get to Tanganyika (which is now Tanzania).
- She gives it to him and lets him spend the night, and he takes off walking across the desert the next morning. It is a dangerous, three-day trip with no water and lots of lions, but he does it anyway.
- Six months later the Baroness gets a letter from Emmanuelson with the money he owes her and also some that Farah had given him.
