This is the first time your students will be expected to use such a wide range of narrative techniques in their writing, so be sure to spend adequate time on this substandard. Your mission—if you choose to accept it—is to help them think about their writing in terms of its individual parts, and how those separate parts contribute to the narrative as a whole.
