Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which ideas are logically grouped to support the writer's purpose.

While this substandard is quite similar to the one used in the fourth grade, the key difference is that students are now expected to group their ideas in a "logical" fashion. That can be a toughie. Still, with enough individual focus, it shouldn't be long until your class is filled with a bunch of little organizational machines.
