Protagonist
Character Role Analysis
Adolf Hitler
As its title implies, the book is ostensibly about the birth and death of the Third Reich itself. But given the fact that the Nazi Empire was built and brought to ruin by one man more than any other, Adolf Hitler stands out as the book's clear protagonist. Just goes to show you that a book's protagonist doesn't have to be a good guy. If it did, we'd nominate the Allies (Churchill in particular), the conspirators out to assassinate the Fuehrer, and the courageous Germans who spoke out against Nazism.
