Mr. Featherstone

Character Analysis

Mr. Featherstone is the owner of a huge estate called Stone Court. He's been married twice, and has outlived both his wives. But he has nieces and nephews by marriage from both of his wives, including the Vincys and the Garths. Fred Vincy is his favorite, and, at the beginning of the novel, everyone assumes that Fred will inherit all of Stone Court. But Featherstone is a funny guy – he likes to raise expectations and then do something unexpected. In the end, he leaves his money to Joshua Rigg, someone no one had ever heard of before.
