Character Analysis
Young Clifford is the son of—you guessed it—Lord Clifford. When he shows up on the battlefield, he finds his dad, killed by York. It would be fair to say he doesn't take the news well. Young Clifford doesn't just want York to die; he wants the whole world to die: "O, let the vile world end, / And the premised flames of the last day / Knit Earth and heaven together" (5.2.40-43).
Yikes—it looks like there are consequences when you kill people's loved ones. Who knew?
Young Clifford vows to get revenge for his dad's death, and that becomes of the plot points in Henry VI, Part 3.
