Personal Unconscious or Collective Unconscious?

While they traveled around the U.S, Carl and Sig were good buds. They walked the rails, shot pool, and went fishing a lot. But the more they talked, the more they discovered differences between their burgeoning psychological theories. Freud only believed in the personal unconscious, a reservoir of individual, repressed emotions and desires that is hidden within each of us. But Jung thought this notion painted an incomplete picture of the richness of the human experience. We lead long lives, ya know? So he thought that the personal unconscious is surrounded by the collective unconscious, which is home to spirituality, universal human stories, and the imagination.
