Solar Power. That's sustainable. The sun's not going away any time soon, and if it does, well, we'll have bigger things to worry about.
Dead dinosaur gloop buried hundreds of feet underground? Mining it is not sustainable. We'll run out, maybe sooner than later. But regardless, as a planet with a population closing in on 10 billion, we have to soon figure out what we're going to do for energy.
Thus was formed what is now almost a religion around sustainability, i.e. the commiitment to just using energy sources that are sustainable, don't deplete, don't leave a carbon footprint, let the ozone layer stay as it is, and generally don't eff things up for our future generations of children.
Can we do that? Will we do that? Eh, not sure we're going to be long humans.com.
