Intermodal Freight
Categories: Company Management
You see them everywhere—driving across highways, sunbathing at ports, blocking you unexpectedly on the road: shipping containers, i.e. the "intermodal container."
Intermodal containers have their own style of transport called intermodal freight. Intermodal freight is a type of transportation where you move freight (cargo) using multiple modes of transport, like truck, ship, and rail.
The reason intermodal freight is so popular? The intermodal containers made it easier (and cheaper) than ever to move a lot of stuff quickly, efficiently, and with minimal damage and loss. Think: ye olden shipping days, where they had to manually unpack and repack goods when switching from ship to truck. It was like the never-ending unpacking of groceries.
