Cum laude, meaning “with honors,” is an academic distinction indicating that a graduate achieved a certain grade point average, usually 3.5 or above. Other colleges might designate the top 25% of the graduating class to at least receive cum laude honors.
Magna cum laude and summa cum laude are even higher honors, with a smaller percentage of students eligible to receive them.
