Cash wages are the type of payments made to employees for work completed that are spendable. This includes a check, money order, ACH/Direct Deposit, or...plain ol' cash.

If an employee is paid in bottles of vodka: Those are not cash wages.

If an employee is paid in nickels: Those are cash wages.

If you work for a sandwich and a song: Sorry, not cash wages.

If you’re paid with a gigantic, oversized check that is cashable at your local bank: Cash wages.
