There’s no joke in this one. Founded in 1961, the Asian Productivity Organization is a nonpolitical, nonprofit, nondiscriminatory organization. The APO has five roles: to act as a think tank (research on how it can best serve its members), a catalyst (alliance building amongst members), a regional advisor (advisement on strategic change of members), an institution builder (strength building of National Productivity Organizations), and a clearinghouse for productivity information.
The organization serves twenty different member economies, located in Asia and the Pacific. Current (as of 2018) member economies include: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Republic of China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
