Americans With Disabilities Act - ADA
Categories: Tax, Regulations
A U.S. federal statute signed into law in 1990 that protects the rights of the handicapped. It contains provisions that bars discrimination against people with disabilities. The law also requires certain access requirements, such as wheelchair ramps for public buildings.
The act was expanded in 2008 by a second act of Congress, expanding the definition of “disabled.” (See: Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008.) My Brother's Keeper.
